Community Guidelines
Last updated: 26 May 2026
Vivah.vip exists to help families pursue serious arranged-marriage outcomes. These guidelines describe the behaviour we expect from every user, family member and mediator on the platform. They're enforced by a mix of automated detection, mediator oversight and our moderation team.
01.Be honest about who you are
- Register in your own name, with your own photos. Parents may register on behalf of an eligible child but must mark the profile accordingly.
- Do not lie about marital status, age, religion, community, employment, or income. Misrepresentation is grounds for permanent ban.
- If your circumstances change (new job, new city, change in marital status), update your profile within a reasonable time.
02.Respect family-first matchmaking
- This is not a dating, casual, hookup, or friendship platform. Use Bumble/Hinge/Tinder for those.
- No flirtation, no sexually explicit language, no romantic pressure before a clear mutual commitment.
- Family involvement is the default. If you don't want your family involved at all, this may not be the right platform for you.
03.No dowry, no money talk
- Dowry is illegal in India (Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961) and is a permanent ban on Vivah.vip.
- Do not solicit gifts, sponsored travel, jewellery, vehicles, real estate, or any financial transfer as a condition of pursuing the match.
- Lehenga / clothing / jewellery norms within community tradition are fine to discuss; demands or expectations of value are not.
04.Treat other users with respect
- No harassment, threats, doxxing, hate speech, slurs, or abusive language.
- No body-shaming, colourism, casteist slurs, religion-based attacks, or discrimination on disability/health.
- Decline interests politely. Silence is okay; cruelty is not.
- One reminder after a missed reply is fine. Multiple unanswered messages cross into harassment.
05.Privacy of others
- Do not screenshot another user's photos or profile. We log screenshot intent and warn you.
- Do not share another user's contact details, photos, or biodata with anyone outside your immediate family without their consent.
- Do not contact another user outside Vivah.vip (find them on Instagram, LinkedIn, WhatsApp by phone) until you've exchanged consent here.
06.Content you upload
- Photos must be of you alone, recent (within 12 months), without filters that materially alter your appearance.
- No wedding photos with another partner. No group photos as the primary photo. No images of strangers, public figures, or pets as your primary photo.
- Biodata uploads must be your own. AI parses them — and if the data conflicts with what you typed earlier, we flag it for review.
07.Mediator and admin authority
- Mediators may transition your match through workflow states based on confirmed real-world events.
- Admins may freeze, suspend or delete accounts that violate these guidelines.
- Decisions can be appealed once at appeals@vivah.vip within 30 days.
08.Reporting
Every profile and message has a Report action. Reports are triaged within 1 business day. For urgent safety issues (threats, stalking, fraud) email safety@vivah.vip directly — we treat these as P0.
09.Enforcement actions
- Warning — first minor offence (e.g. tone, photo quality).
- Temporary suspension — repeated minor offence or moderate one (e.g. spammy interest sends).
- Permanent ban — fake identity, dowry talk, harassment, threats, scam attempts, fraud.
- Law-enforcement referral — credible threats, child endangerment, severe fraud.
10.Help us improve
If a rule feels wrong, missing, or unclear — please write to policy@vivah.vip. We review every piece of feedback monthly.
